What goes into a BOM cost

A bill of materials (BOM) lists every part and how much of it one finished product uses. Multiply each quantity by its unit cost and add them up.

Then plug the result into the margin calculator, or read what a bill of materials is.

In Stoccly, BOM costs update automatically as purchase prices change, including multi-level sub-assemblies.

Frequently asked questions

Should waste be included?+

Yes. If you lose 10% of fabric when cutting, use 1.1× the finished amount as the quantity.

What about sub-assemblies?+

Cost each sub-assembly on its own first, then add it as one line in the finished product's BOM.

Which unit cost should I use?+

Your most recent purchase price is simplest. Average cost smooths price swings across purchases.
